Web development

What is best when setting up a large (1000+) web page site, individual pages using templates or single page linked to a relational dadtabase?

RE: Web development

Hi Bob

Thank you for your question. It's hard to recommend one method over the other without taking into account how frequently the pages will change, what will instigate those changes and how they may need to be moderated. There are other trade-offs to consider such as the time taken to generate pages by the database in comparison to pages already uploaded to the remote site by Dreamweaver.

On the other hand any change to a template in Dreamweaver will probably require that change to be applied to most if not all the pages in your site and then be uploaded. This can be time-consuming on large sites. Many people address these problems by using a mix of database, template and server side includes.

With a site of the size you are describing I suggest you pilot a couple of smaller alternatives so you can test them and see
which best suits your needs.

I hope this is helpful. Do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew
