Project Overview - Project Summary Report

Problem still unresolved. (see earlier posting today).

I have amended the Resource Sheet to show the unit price per day and it STILL does not give logical answers.

eg ccy 200 per day should give me ccy 400 total for 2 man days. the result I get does not add up.

There must be another constraint that is defined elsewhere. I am using someone else's project plan btw.

PLEASE HELP!

RE: Project Overview - Project Summary Report

Hi Sarah

Thanks for the update - just out of training and got your message. Take a look at the Resource Usage view. Is your resource red (ie overallocated?) or are their hours on certain days edited so that there are more or less than the default 8 per day?

Have fixed costs been added to tasks? (insert the Fixed Cost column)

One way to trouble shoot the plan might be to change the day rate down to

Ms project tip:

Keep constraining dates to a minimum

As far as possible avoid fixing the dates of your tasks. For example try to steer of clear dragging task bars in the Gantt chart to move them on the timeline or entering dates directly into the Start / Finish fields.

Date constraints such as these limit Microsoft Project's ability to automatically adjust your project whenever you add, remove or modify the duration of your tasks. Instead use the logic in your task dependencies that link your tasks to enable Project to calculate the start and finish dates for you.
