RE: Changing Working Time to Weekends

Hi Jen

Thank you for your question - you can create a new calendar by going to Tools > Change working time then click on the New button.

You get to choose whether the new calendar is based on an existing calendar (and will inherit that calendar's non working time settings) or is a new calendar.

Once you have made your choice you can customise the calendar by clicking on the column labels for Saturday and Sunday and marking the days as Non standard working time.

I hope this helps - do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Generic Terms for Resources

Thankyou, that was very helpful.

My other problem is that I have started to use generic terms for resources as groups of resources share particular jobs and move around those jobs. However Project will not let me use the generic term more than once for a specific task e.g. I may need 2 of 'Taxonomist A'. I have assigned this resource 600% as there are 6 Taxonomist A's. Is there any way around this?

Thnaks again,

Jen

RE: Generic Terms for Resources

Hi Jen

Thank you for your question - the ideal way would be to assign 200% of your resources to a task to indicate 2 of the 6 are working on an activity. That should leave the other 4 available for working taking place on the same day.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Ms project tip:

Using the Quick Access Toolbar in Project 2010

The Quick Access Toolbar is included in virtually every Office product, including Project 2010 as well as Outlook 2010, Word 2010, Excel 2010, and PowerPoint 2010.

You will find the Quick Access Toolbar in the top-left side of the window. To begin, click the Customize button (it's the little black arrow at the end of the toolbar).

Simply click the commands you want to include.

Virtually any command can be added to the Quick Access Toolbar. Click the More Commands option and a new window will open from where you can browse the commands including those not on the ribbon.
