Access Forms

How do you make a combo box on a form control the whole form in such a way that it would bring up related fields to the contents of the combo box?

For example, i want to select the Names of people that work at my company from a combo box. I want this then to trigger all other fields that i choose, ie. age, address, job title etc.

RE: Access Forms

Hi Adam

Thank you for your question

Create your combo box in the normal way by drawing it on the form. Make sure that control wizards are switched on (Magic Wand button on the control toolbox)

The wizard will ask you which type of combo box you want, and the third entry is to select a record based upon the combo box value. Select this and click next and then the wizard will guide you through the process, asking you to specify the key filed etc.

Regards

Stephen

Access tip:

Closing form after a certain time period

To make a form close automatically after a certain time period, you need to assign the close function to a macro.

Save the macro and ope up the form in design view. open the Properties sheet.

In the TimerInterval property enter the length of time you want the form open for. This should be in milliseconds, so for instance if you want the form open for 5 seconds enter 5000, for an minute enter 60000.

You now need to attach your macro (to execute the Close action) to the OnTimer event property of the form.
