Designing a website 2

by - delegate Vicki [3 posts] (2006 Nov 28 Tue, 15:58) replyReply

If I want to design my own simple website (just straight text based pages) which software would be easiest to use Dreamweaver or Frontpage?

Hi Vicki,

If you're not too concerned with how your web site is coded (all the markup in the background), and if it's just a simple web site, then it doesn't really matter which application you choose.

Dreamweaver is currently the industry standard application, but you may prefer Frontpage, especially if you use some of the other applications within Microsoft Office (like Word, Excel). The applications within Office are very compatible.

Even with text-based web page though, Dreamweaver has features such as auto-updating links. For example, if you change the filename of a web page, Dreamweaver can update the links to the file in all other pages throughout your site.

You may also like to read our article on Dreamweaver vs Frontpage, indicating Frontpage is more suitable for the novice.

I hope this helps.

Regards, Rich
