Key

Hi,

Please could you explain how I change/amend the 'key' at the bottom of a printed Gantt Chart i.e. the area that sits to the right of the project title when working with the default settings that shows what the 'task', 'milestone', 'External Task' etc. appears like on the chart.

Your help is much appreciated

Richard

RE: Key

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your question.

Do you mean how do you change what is shown on the legend in Print Preview?

If so, navigate to the Format menu and then Bar Styles. If you want to add a particular bar to the Legend or key, then add an asterisk before the name of the bar.

To achieve this select the bar name from the list and click into the entry bar before the first letter of the name. Then use Shift and 8 to add the asterisk.

If you would like a bar removed from the legend/key then Format Styles, select the bar name and remove the asterisk using the entry bar.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards

Simon

Ms project tip:

Keep constraining dates to a minimum

As far as possible avoid fixing the dates of your tasks. For example try to steer of clear dragging task bars in the Gantt chart to move them on the timeline or entering dates directly into the Start / Finish fields.

Date constraints such as these limit Microsoft Project's ability to automatically adjust your project whenever you add, remove or modify the duration of your tasks. Instead use the logic in your task dependencies that link your tasks to enable Project to calculate the start and finish dates for you.
