Charts using 3 sets of data

Hi, please could you let me know how to create a bar chart using 3 sets of data. e.g. the bottom axis would have the categories O&G, M&M, Chemicals, Utilities, up the side would be the numbers, but i want to split the bars up into different colours to signify the number of people at each level within each category. i.e. 2 MDs, 2 VPs and 1 Analyst in O&G, all to be represented in 1 bar. Thanks v much

RE: Charts using 3 sets of data

Hi Kathryn, thanks for the query. You need to lay out your data in Excel like this, simplified, example:

Headings
A1(blank), B1 = "M&M", C1 = "Utilities", etc
Then in successive rows
Column A: "MD", B2 = 2, C2 = 4
Column A: "VP", B2 = 1, C2 = 2
Column A: "MD", B2 = 1, C2 = 1

Select the data, and using the wizard create a stacked column chart. On the Data Range tab of step 2 of the chart wizard, change "Series In:" to Rows. That should result in the chart you need.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Anthony

RE: Charts using 3 sets of data

Hi Kathryn. Select the data and then on the Insert menu click on Chart. Select the top middle Column chart style option (stacked column) and then click Finish. It should be as simple as that!

All the best,

Anthony
