The database engine could not lock table (table name) because it

Hello,

I have two table that are joined on a one to one join type, referrential integrity is enforced.

Then I designed a query from my table to provide customers that match a certain criteria in a date range. This has parameter fields that let the person choose the date on which data they need to search.

From that I have then designed a report based on the query, this then displays the query in a more presentable format.

I have then included a command button as a link to the form and when it is pressed the above error appears. But, when I exit the form I can run the report in the Objects pane with no problems. There is something conflicting somewhere, but I have used this technique in the past and it has worked. I need this for a corportate database that I am designing so a response would be appreciated as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Gary

Hi Gary

Thanks for your question

Sorry for the slight delay in replying

Unfortunately I cannot see the full error message as you used it in the title to your post. Could you repost it in the body of the post so I can have a look

Thanks

Stephen

access database microsoft training and other Microsoft training courses.

Access tip:

Splittng a database

Split your database into two (at least).

Keep all of your code, forms, reports, etc. in one 'code' database and all of your tables in another 'data' database which is then linked to the 'code' database.

This makes modifications, updates and back-ups that much easier and allows you to work on a new version of your 'code' database without affecting existing users. It also makes it easier should you wish to convert a single user databases into a multi-user networked version.
