Personal.XSLB

Personal.XSLB

I created a Macro in personal workbook but got frustrated when it opened as a seperate workbook everytime I opened anything in Excel so tried to delete it.

Now I appear to have no macros, but if I open excel automatically a workbook opens called Personal.XSLB too. even if I open an existing file from my folders it will also open the Personal.XSLB too.

How can I get rid of this workbook and stop it from opening all the time?

Also if I re-create the macro and I want it to appear as an icon in every workbookk but not run unless I click it, do I save it as 'this workbook', 'new workbook' or personal?

Many thanks

RE: Personal.XSLB

Hi Sasha

Thanks for the question

The personal macro workbook stores your macros in a central place and allows you to run them in any open workbook. Thus, this is the place that you should save macros when you want to use them on more than one workbook.

As to the personal workbook opening, this is what it is meant to do. This makes the macros available. However, it should be hidden so you cannot see it.

The Personal Macro workbook is contained in a folder called xlStart. You will need to search for it as its position varies. Once you have found it, open the folder and right click on the personal macro workbook file and select properties.
Tick the hidden check box.

That should solve the problem

Regards

Stephen

Removing custom dictionary entries

If you add something to the custom dictionary in Excel you cannot remove it. The way to get around this is to go into word and remove it there.
