Fillin field - prompt

I have put in a fillin field prompt inside my header and footer of a letter. This works fine, however when I go to click print preview or print, the prompts come up again but numerous times. How do I stop these from popping up when clicking print or print preview?

Thanks

RE: Fillin field - prompt

Hi Katie

Thank you for your question. By default Word is set to update all fields when you send the document to print or print preview.

This is controlled by going into Tools > Options > Print and checking (or unchecking) the Update Fields check box.

You can find out more in this article from Microsoft.

RE: Fillin field - prompt

Thanks for this. Do you know if there is a way I can instead move my field to above the header and below the footer area?

RE: Fillin field - prompt

Hi Katie

You may find putting your text into a text box and setting the box above your Header / below your Footer achieves the effect you are looking for. Text boxes containing fill-in fields can be set in the Header / Footer.

One thing to watch out for is your printer most likely prints close to the edge but not all the way - so text very close to the edge of the page may get clipped.

I hope this helps - do let us know if we can be of any further help.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Word tip:

Shortcut keys for creating tables

There are shortcut keys you can use in Word in order to create tables.

Simply typing +-+ (plus symbol, minus symbol then plus symbol without any spaces between them), then pressing Enter creates one cell in a table.

So for example, if you require a table with three columns you would type +-+ three times with no gaps and press Enter.

Need more rows? Just click in the last cell in the table and press the Tab key.
