Hello,

I sometimes use the option past special/transpose in order to change the disposition of table and transfer column into row and vis et versa.
However it happened to me that I had two rows as heading and one column and I want to transpose the 1rst row and not the second one.

e.g:
I have :
1rst row : Company name
2 row : year
column : Financial element (Turn Over,...)

I want :
1rst row : financial Element
2nd Row : year
column : Company Name

Is there a simple way to do it?

Hi Emmanuelle,

Thank you for your question. Give this a try and see if it is more successful.

First review your table that you would like to transpose and note how many rows and columns it contains.

Highlight where you would like the transposed table to appear. For example if your source data is four columns wide by two rows deep you will need to highlight your destination area as two columns wide by four rows deep.

With the cells highlighted click the function wizard button (fx) at the start of the formula bar. This brings up the function wizard dialog box.

In the wizard's search box type Transpose and click Go. From the list of functions that appear double click Transpose.

We are almost there.

We need to tell the transpose function to use your source data. To do this click on the button beside the Array entry box to collapse (has a small red arrow) your dialog box out of the way and then highlight the source data you would like to transpose. Expand the dialog box back up by clicking on the same button..

Finally to commit your formula press Ctrl + Shift + Enter at the same time (instead of just Enter). This will enable the function to work with the whole array of your data and insert {} brackets.

Your destination cells will contain a transposed version of your source data. Formatting is not transposed so you will need to reapply special formats as required.
