Templates

Is there a way I can select a template from a .mpt file that is saved in a directory other than the default templates folder? When I just open the template by double clicking it I am asked if I want to save changes twice - presumably once for the template and once for the file created within it(?). Thanks.

RE: Templates

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your question and sorry about the delay in responding.

In Project 2007, I have also found challenges when using templates.

I created a project and added some tasks that need to be in every project. Then saved the file as a template(*.MPT) as MyTemplate.MPT to the Desktop.

To create a new Project based on that template, I went to File Open and chose the Template file from the Desktop. This creates a new project based on the template. I added the rest of the tasks I needed for that project and saved it as a *.MPP file.

If I need to change the template I would go to the desktop and right click over the template file and choose Open. Make my changes, click save, change the file type to *.MPT and select the existing template file to overwrite it.

I hope this helps.

Let me know.

Regards

Simon
