Excel numerical value in a cell

Hi,

Please could you help with the following enquiry? Is there any way of adding a numerical integer into a cell that already contains a different number. For example in A1, it shows 12, A2 shows 12, A3 shows 8 can you make each cell mean 10 so that when you use the formula =sum(a1+a2+a3) it adds up to 30?

Many thanks

Cherry

RE: Excel numerical value in a cell

Hi Cherry, thanks for your query. There is no standard function in Excel to allow you to do this and to achieve it would involve some bespoke VBA. However, depending on what you want to achieve, have you thought about have 10 as the value in A3 and then drawing a white-filled rectangle over the cell with the number 8 in it, obscuring the real value but leaving it intact for use in formulae? The end result, visually at least, would be the same as your request.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Excel tip:

Manually rotating a 3D chart

To manually rotate a 3D chart;
Select the chart (edit mode) and click on one corner of the chart display area. A selection border will appear, using the left mouse button on one of the chart's "corners" (mouse pointer changes to a cross) drag the image which becomes a line representation of the chart (as you begin to drag) and rotate the chart to a view of your choice.
If you dont get it right first time, dont worry, the manoeuver is a little bit tricky.
