Word 2007 - Filename within header/footer

Hi Guys,

How do I get a File Path (and file name) into a footer or at the end of a document.

In 2003, you used to type a formula i.e. =(filename) or something like like and in Excel you can use the Custom header or footer to select filepath/filename.

Regards.

Jules

PS thank you for all your help on my other questions

RE: Word 2007 - Filename within header/footer

Hi Julie,

Thank you for your question.

Use the Insert Tab - Footer option. Choose the footer option you require. Select the appropriate position on the footer and then go to the Header and Footer Tools contextual toolbar(green) and select the design tab(also in green).

Choose Quick Parts from the Insert group and then select Fields.

Change the category to Document Information and click once on the FileName option. You need to tick the 'Add Path to FileName' checkbox on the right hand side of the screen.

I hope this helps.

Let me know.

Regards

Simon

Word tip:

Remove document formatting quickly

Ever opened a document where the formatting is terrible; only then to spend hours removing it all?

You can quickly remove all the formatting that has been applied to a document by going to Edit - Clear - Formats. This saves you from having to manually remove all the formatting yourself.
