Deleting a slide design template

I have created a new master template for use here at WaterAid, but in doing so had a number of false starts so I now have a couple of redundant templates in my available design templates that are not quite correct. How do I delete them?

RE: Deleting a slide design template

Hi John

Thank you for your question. If you have created a template you would like to remove then a quick way to do this is to first open PowerPoint then from the File menu choose New.

In the Task pane that appears click the "on my computer" link

A dialog box will appear and under the General tab you will find the templates you have created.

If you now right click on an icon you will get the option to delete it.

With any operation involving deleting information take extra care and make sure important information is backed up and the backup is readily accessible.

If your template is stored on the machine you are working on then the deleted file should go into the recycle bin. Templates stored on a network drive are deleted but not put in the recycle bin - so there is no way to restore the file other than using a backup.

I hope this helps - do let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,
Andrew

Powerpoint tip:

To copy an object on your page

To copy an object on your page quickly and easily instead of using cut & paste, try this instead.

Select the object you want to copy by clicking on it.

Hold down the "CTRL" key on the keyboard.

Click (with the left mouse button) and drag the object to the new position. Simple & quick.

Now try it again but press the "Shift" key at the same time as the CTRL key, this will keep the objects aligned. Great for making diagrams etc.
