On a budget spreadsheet you have budget actual and variance. How do you change the variance number if the number is a minus and shaded in Black?

RE: Excel

Hi Bhavna, thanks for your query. If I recall correctly, your query is to do with the colour formatting of positive and negative currencies and you're experiencing some mismatch on your budget and variance sheets. I think this has to do with your currency formatting. Select the cells on the worksheet with the figures in it, then right-click and choose Format Cells. You need to make sure that the Currency format is correctly applied to those cells in the appropriate worksheet. For example, if the values are negative you can choose the red and negative format, and vice versa.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any more help with this.

Anthony

Microsoft office tip:

Prevent macros from running when you start Applications

Macros are automated programs that can help you speed up your work. They can be embedded in caommands like AutoExec which will make them run as soon as an application like MS Word or MS Access are launched.
Sometimes it is useful to be able to switch off this function, and then can be done by the following method.
Hold down the SHIFT key when you click on the icon to start the program. This will suppress any automated macros.
