Graphs in PowerPoint

I know how to set the size of a chart within the presentation, however is it possible to set the size of the plot area? For instance If I have two pie charts, one of which has a detailed legend within the chart area and one does not, the chart with the legend will be smaller and I need to have them matching.

RE: Graphs in PowerPoint

Hi Lorraine

Thank you for your question regarding the sizing of plot areas in PowerPoint charts.

The best way to size a plot area to your own specific measurements would be to:

- Select the plot area

* This can be done by either clicking just outside of the pie chart (can be a bit tricky)
or
* With the chart selected, open the Chart Tools 'Format' tab which is on the ribbon (top of the interface). In the first group 'Current Selection' click the drop down arrow & select Plot Area.

- With the plot area selected, either drag the sizing handles around the plot area to the preferred size
or
- Within the Chart Tools 'Format' tab, in the Size group (far right hand side of ribbon) adjust the height & width measurements.

- Use these measurements for the second pie chart to replicate the same sized plot area.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post.

Unfortunately when I select the plot area the the chart format tab size group is not available to enter sizes which is what I had hoped to do to make it precise.

However I have dragged one over the other and pulled them into the same size.
Many thanks
Lorraine

RE: Graphs in PowerPoint

Hi Lorraine

I'm glad to hear it's somewhat resolved, a bit baffling as to why the size group is inactive. If the plot area has been selected on any type of chart the size group (right hand side of the ribbon - under 'chart tools' format tab) should be available.

If you have any another Microsoft Office questions please do get in touch.
