Brian has attended:
Project Intro Intermediate course

Microsoft Project

Is there an easy way to set up excell spreadheet reports so that actual dates can automatically be imported into Project directly, avoiding any need for manual changes within project once the programme is baselined?

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: Microsoft Project

Hello Brian,

Hope you enjoyed your Microsoft Project course with Best STL.

Thank you for your question regarding working with Excel and Project.

If you are importing tasks from an Excel sheet you don't need to use dates since Project will automatically insert the current date which you can then change. After inserting the durations you would then link the tasks together and all dates would then be calculated for you. There is no need to use dates in an Excel sheet for importing. You can however, include a Duration column in Excel, which when imported will make the calculations of dates much quicker.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.

Ms project tip:

Entering Days

To type in a day of the week, or its three letter abbreviation, in a Date field type "Monday" or "Mon", and Project will show the date for the next Monday after the current date.
