Tables copied and pasted into word

A colleage send me a word document which contained an table that had been copied and pasted from another document.
I was asked to amend the table, changing coloumns, rows etc. As the table wasn't created in the word document I found it very difficult to format the table. Is there a way in which I can format the table easily without having to find the original source?

Many thanks

RE: Tables copied and pasted into word

Hi Alicia

Thank you for your question regarding Word tables.

The reason you're having difficulty in amending the table is because the table itself was not created in Word. The table tools within Word relate to 'Word Tables.'

You have two options, either find the original source & amend from there or create a Word table from scratch inputting the table data.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post.

Word tip:

Keeping words together in the same line

Word will automatically wrap text itself to create new lines.

You can force Word to keep words together when they are separated by either spaces or hyphens by creating non-breaking spaces or non-breaking hyphens.

To create a non-breaking space, use Ctrl + Shift in conjunction with pressing the spacebar.

To create a non-breaking hyphen, use Ctrl + Shift in conjunction with pressing the hyphen key.

Non-breaking spaces or hyphens will not split between lines.
