Tracking the task based on Quantity not in time

I am handling a project of Power plant manufacturing. Here right now civil work is going on, so I have to track my project status on the basis of amount of work done quantity wise. But here % work complete is taking in % and other inputs are being taken in Hours. How could I enter the Amount/Quantity of work is to be completed and in that how much is already completed, on that basis the project should Compute the % of work complete and the status of the project.

RE: Tracking the task based on Quantity not in time

Hi Anshu,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

If you go to Tools, Tracking and then Update Tasks and enter the actual and remaining and project will recalculate for you.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards

Simon

RE: Tracking the task based on Quantity not in time

Dear Sir,
Thanks for your reply but the way you told in that all input and out of tracking is in Hourly/Days based but I want the input and output both in quantity based. For example:
I have to complete 400cubic cm work but uptill now I have completed only 100cubic cm.
Like that I want to enter the actual work done.
Kindly guide me, as I have stuck badly in this.

Regards,

Anshul Pandey.

RE: Tracking the task based on Quantity not in time

Hi Anshul,

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately progress can be entered using costs or work completed.

You could enter in the percentage complete column. So if you have used 100 cubic metres from 400 cubic metres then the % Complete would be entered as 25%.

I hope this answers your question.

Regards

Simon

RE: Tracking the task based on Quantity not in time

Hi Anshul,

I just had another idea.

You could create two new fields that hold qty used and qty remaining and then create a new caluclated field with a formula:

(qty used/ qty remaining) * 100

Just a thought.

Simon
