Pivot Tables

Trying to do a Pivot table with a spreadsheet I am doing but it is not capturing all the data. Is there a limit to the number of cells it captures in excel 2003?

RE: Pivot Tables

Hi Troy

Thanks for your question

Before we proceed can you confirm that there are no blank rows in your data source? If there are then these need to be removed. You should also check for any hidden rows that may be blank

Regards

Stephen

RE: Pivot Tables

If you created the pivot table first and then added more data to the bottom of the data source, then the pivot table will not automatically include the new data.
There are two ways to get around this :-
1) having added new data to the data source, amend the pivot table setup (or delete the pivot table and start again). A manual process that you have to keep doing if the data source keeps getting added to.
or
2) Use a dynamic range name (using the OFFSET function) instead of selecting the data source in the pivot table setup. This way each time you add data to the data source the pivot table can be refreshed and the new data will be included. This is dealt with very simply in 2007/2010 versions.

If point 2) answers your query let me know and I will give a detailed answer that you can follow.
Kind regards
Clare
