Nick has attended:
Project Intro Intermediate course

MSP

I have downloaded a 30 DAY demo version of MSP 2007 to use whilst in between jobs.

I am unable to open the IMG file. Any ideas on what to do?

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: MSP

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your question.

Try Virtual Clone Drive or Magic ISO to try and open the IMG file.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Simon

RE: MSP

I tried this but it didnt work.

I have managed to download a demo of 2010 as an exe file and got that working. It s a bit different but I am finding my way around. One thing I cant find the answer to is how do you create a calender in MSP 2010?

Regards, Nick

RE: MSP

Hi Nick,

Thanks for the update.

If you go to the Project tab and then choose Change Working Time. In the top right corner there is an option to create a new calendar.

I hope this answers your question.

Simon

RE: MSP

Hi Nick,

Thank you for your response.

If you go to Project and Project Information and choose your new calendar from the list.

Change the calendar for the first resource in the resource sheet and use the autofill handle to fill the rest.

Then any tasks that have resources assigned to them will be using your new calendar.

Simon

Ms project tip:

Keep constraining dates to a minimum

As far as possible avoid fixing the dates of your tasks. For example try to steer of clear dragging task bars in the Gantt chart to move them on the timeline or entering dates directly into the Start / Finish fields.

Date constraints such as these limit Microsoft Project's ability to automatically adjust your project whenever you add, remove or modify the duration of your tasks. Instead use the logic in your task dependencies that link your tasks to enable Project to calculate the start and finish dates for you.
