Word

When I try to insert an excel table into a new word document or try & use an excel table in an existing word (some work & then all of a sudden it won't work) document I am getting this warning message 'The program used to create this object is Excel. That programme is not installed on your computer. To edit this object you must install a program that can open the object'. I do have excel installed on my computer, your help & advice would be appreciated

RE: Word

Hello Gill,

Hope you enjoyed your course with BEST Training.
Thank you for your question regarding Word.

The only reason I can think that it is saying you don't have Excel installed, is possibly the version. The table you originally put in, was it created using an earlier version of excel or word, have you recently upgraded to 2007 etc..

Test this works by opening your word 2007, insert an excel table, making sure you have excel 2007 ONLY on the computer. Save.
Then try editing it again. If it works then problem solved, otherwise you need to check how your upgrade to 2007 was installed, and do you still have earlier versions on the same PC.
Let us know if you still have problems. It may be an issue with the installation in which case seek help from your IT dept.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
Regards,

Mark

Word tip:

Shortcut keys to show non-printing characters

The Show/Hide button can be used in Word to show non-printing characters in your document.

The shortcut keys for revealing non-printing characters are Ctrl + Shift + the 8/* button above the alpha keys on the keyboard.

Holding down the same combination of keys hides non-printing characters again.
