Hi Susannah, thanks for your query. In Excel 2007 you need the Developer tab visible on the ribbon to record a macro. You can get to activating tick box using the options button on the Office drop down menu - it's the third tick box down on the first screen that appears.

Then, you simply create a macro by clicking on "Record Macro" on the developer tab. After that, all your actions in Excel will be recorded and translated into a repeatable macro. Remember to press "Stop recording" when you're done!
