Encryption in Excel

I need to send sensitive data to different sites. Which is the safest encryption within excel, I have looked in tools after save as and in advanced and their are several different types of encryption. I need something secure but easily accessible to the end user.
Thanks

RE: Encryption in Excel

Hi Elaine, thanks for your query. This is a tough one to advise one because of course the second we recommend something it will be decrypted, your data read and you'll be very annoyed with us! So a couple of things: a) nothing is bulletproof, but password protecting your data (Tools - Options - Security) satisfies most users within a company, b) if you are sending your data to different sites ask IT whether they use a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to do so and c) if you need to go further the most widespread data encryption tool is PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) which you can read about here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pretty_Good_Privacy

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Excel tip:

Do a fast scroll

In big Excel databases with many records, you can move down thousands of rows super-fast as follows: hold down Shift then click on the scrollbar somewhere below the scrollbar handle. This will move you way down the sheet without your having to use the scrollbar up/down arrows or drag on the scrollbar handle.
