Format as table

When I format my cells as a table it puts an additional row at the top of my cells and calls them column 1, column 2 etc. I have to put blanks in not to show them. How do I get rid of them, or set the settings for format as a table, with out getting these headings?

RE: Format as table

Hi Sandra,

When you format cells as a table, you get prompted with a question about whether you have headers. You say no, and Excel gives you the column1 etc row at the top. This is because Excel assumes you will want to filter the data you have, but if you don't want to, there is a tick box in the middle of the Table Tools Design Tab, which you untick. This should solve your problem, but it will leave a blank row above your table.

Hope this helps

Clare

RE: Format as table

Hi Sandra

Thank you for your question -I will certainly try and help. Does your first row contact heading data or does it begin with the first record of data?

Kind regards,
Andrew

Excel tip:

Hiding and unhiding columns using the keyboard

CTRL + 0 hides your columns and CTRL + SHIFT + ) unhides them although you would need to highlight the column letters either side as per normal
