RE: best way to master the icons/their use

Hi Sherry

Thank you for your question.

The toolbar buttons that are present by default when you open the Word application are deemed as the most commonly used commands, for example, cut, copy, paste, save, print etc along with a number of formatting toolbar buttons such as font size, font colour, borders, etc. These toolbar button are simply there to provide quicker access to these commonly used commands.

To identify which ones are applicable to your day to day working can only be achieved through understanding what these buttons do either by exploring them yourself or if you have a particular question about a specific tool you can send that to us.

Many users of the Microsoft applications are self-taught by establishing through trial & error what tools work well for their day to day workings. Alternatively through the training we provide from the introductory level to advanced, these buttons are introduced.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

Word tip:

Remove document formatting quickly

Ever opened a document where the formatting is terrible; only then to spend hours removing it all?

You can quickly remove all the formatting that has been applied to a document by going to Edit - Clear - Formats. This saves you from having to manually remove all the formatting yourself.
