How do you when report writing, get the data to be displayed horizontally instead of vertically?

So for example in design view I am constructing the layout of my report. When I put the field headers in place once selected from my query, they automatically are displaying the data down the page and not accross the page.

I suggest running a form wizard and creating a report using the tabular format.
This will give you a good understanding of how to setup reports in the format you are looking for.

Essentially you need to add a "page header" area.
You can do this by clicking on VIEW, PAGE HEADER when you are in the Design view of a report. You need the field label in the page heading, and the field value in the detail section.

Hope that helps.
