Splitting tasks

When you split a task why does it change the duration?

RE: Splitting tasks

Hi Mikaila - by default, with Effort Driven Scheduling turned on Project will leave the duration unchanged if you split a task.

If effort driven scheduling is turned off however the duration will change if you split a task. You can turn effort driven scheduling on for this task by double clicking it in the list of tasks and from the Task Information dialogue box clicking on the advanced tab. From here set the task type to Fixed Units and make sure there is a tick in Effort Driven. Now when you split the task the duration remains the same.

Hope this helps - do contact us if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Andrew
