Formatting

I have a spread sheet when i minimise the sheet the data disappears, you can see in the tool bar the information is there but can't see it just blank cells appear back to full screen information appears, is it that i have too many formulars on the sheet or colour?

Hi Dina

Thanks for your question. I don't recognise the symptoms you describe as being a known problem with Excel.

One step towards troubleshooting the cause of the issue is to try and replicate the problem in a new spreadsheet. To do this create a new workbook, create some test data (rather than copy from the original workbook) and repeat the minimise / fullscreen actions. Do the cells is the new workbook also appear blank?

I've tried that it only affects this particular workbook, not sure what i have done to it.

Thank you for coming back to me.

If the new workbook is OK the next step is to copy some data from the problem spreadsheet and paste it into your new spreadsheet and test again this time using real information.

Excel tip:

Use the SUBTOTAL function in Excel

You can create subtotals in your spreadsheet using the SUBTOTAL function, which looks like this:

=SUBTOTAL(9,cell:cell)

9 represents the function being used (SUM), followed by the range of cells the function is operating on.

The neat thing about using the Subtotal function is that if you have used it several times in the same column or row, clicking on the AutoSum button at the end of the column or row will make Excel add only the results of cells containing the Subtotal function in that column or row.
