MS Project 2010

Hi,

I have 2 questions:

1. How do I change the start date of a Project Summary Task or is it linked to whenever the first task starts on the project (even if I change start date in Project Information?

2. How do I left align all outline numbered sub tasks so 1.1 is directly aligned above 1.1.1 and 1.1.1.1 and so on?

Thanks!

RE: MS Project 2010

Hi Adam,

Thank you for your question and welcome to the forum.

Did you add the Project Summary Task through the Format Tab of Gantt Chart Tools? If so the Project Summary tasks summarise the entire project and wouldn't be edited.

So if the Start Date of the project changed in the Project Information screen, then the Project Summary Task will update automatically.

As far as I am aware you can't left align the outline numbers. However if you create your own WBS code with 1, 1.1 etc. then add the WBS field as a new column. You can then select the WBS column you added and change the alignment to left.

I hope this helps.

Regards

Simon

Ms project tip:

Compare Work and Duration

Duration is the timescale within which a task is done; Work is the specific time element used. For example, 3 days work in a duration of 2 weeks. To compare, add the Work field into the Entry table by right clicking a column heading to Add Field.
