Whilst in the course I asked why, when I open up an existing database at work, it is often not in the same lay out as when I last worked on it. No one else has opened the file but the columns are all our of order.

If I go into design view and change something e.g. add a new column, when I go back into the table everything is back in the correct order but it is frustrating having to do this every time.

In the course I was told this probably had something to do with a 'start up macro' and holding the shift button down whilst iopening the file would correct it. But this doesn't work so does anyone have any other ideas?

Hi Kelly

Sorry for not getting back sooner. Can I check - do you get a dialog box asking you if you wish to save changes to the layout of the table? Saying Yes normally keeps the new arrangement of columns in the table.

thanks for your reply, I don't get a dialog box before I close a table, because I don't alter the order of any columns.

It seems completely random that sometimes when I open a table back up again, everything will be out of order.

- if things are out of order when I open the file, I go into design view and I've got a text column in there I can change round, so I change it from text to memo, for example, save the change, go back into table view and everything is back in the order I left it in. i just have to make a change to the design and everything goes back to how it should be. But this is bit irritating!
