Correcting working timings

Hi

Before creating the new project, we set the timings in Project as 8am - 5pm. We then set this back to 9am-5.30pm. However, the bars are not covering the full duration of the tasks, even though the duration is correct. E.g. the bar for a 5d task is not covering 5 full days.

It seems that the working hours are out of sync somewhere. Your help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Lucy

RE: Correcting working timings

Hello Lucy,

Thank you for your question regarding the setting of working times in Project. There are a few things you must do to make this work.

1) Set the default calendar times. Tools > Options > Calendar tab > change Default start time to 09:00 > change Default end time to 05:30 > Change Hours per day to 7.50 > Change Days per week to 37.50 > Leave days per month at 20 > Click the Set as default button.

2) Create a new calendar - Tools > Change working time > Create new calendar > Select Work weeks tab > Click Details > Select Monday through Friday on the left > On the right side choose Set Day(s) to these specific working times > Amend the times to match the default calendar settings made in step 1 above > Click OK > Click OK

3) Update the project start date and calendar > Project > Project Information > Select start date > Select new calendar created in step 2 above > Click OK

4) UPdate calendar settings on Gantt chart > Right-click Gantt Chart > Non-working time > Select project calendar from Calendar drop-down list.

That is all you have to do. Try it out!

NB. If you change the default calendar times after setting the durations... please remember that this will change the duration settings.

I hope this resolves your question. If it has, please mark this question as resolved.

If you require further assistance, please reply to this post. Or perhaps you have another Microsoft Office question?

Have a great day.
