I attended an advanced Excel training course a few days ago. I don't recall covering the use of 'curly brackets' - can you please provide a brief overview? Thanks a lot.

These are array formulas you may be referring to by "curly". This is not covered in the advanced course but if you follow this link it will explain them for you.
