Patricia has attended:
Project Intro Intermediate course

Sart date and end date of a project

My project has got a clear end date
I have made a proces that containts 2 parts. The first part has to start in May this year and the second part has to end at the end date (10 Feb 2009)
As a result I want to find out on wahat point the 2 parts overlap.

I set my project with the end date (in project/project information)
The first part starts at de start date (after the first task I put a start date)
Now my second part start at today but I would like to link the whole tree as close as possible to the end date.

Thanks in advance for your reply, Patricia

RE: sart date and end date of a project

Hi Patricia

Thank you for your question. Can I check what version of Project you are using? If you are using Project 2003 then double check whether or not it's been updated with the latest service pack from Microsoft. There were some problems with earlier releases of Project 2003. Open Project and go to the help menu then choose "about Microsoft Project" to check your current version.

You can find more about Project 2003 Service Pack at

RE: sart date and end date of a project

Hi Andrew,
The version of my Microsoft is 2003 (11.2.2005.1801.15)SP2
But I would be surpriced if it would be a version problem. I am just a beginner and don't know how what to do. Did you check my document I attached in my email.
Would be great if you could give it a look.
best, Patricia

RE: sart date and end date of a project

Patricia,

sorry for the delay in replying.

there are known problems with MS project without service pack updates.

I set the milestone for 114 to must finish on date specified, and made all tasks from row 80 onwards to finsish as late as possible.

let me know if this helps

regards

david

RE: sart date and end date of a project

Hi David,
Thanks for your reply, but the problem is when I want to solve it like that, the relations in the tree changes and I want to keep them the same. Like row 94, will be finished also as late as possible but I want it to finish earlier like it is in the tree now.
Maybe it isn't possible what I want to do. And I have to build it in an other way?

Patricia

RE: sart date and end date of a project

Patricia

you can try to build it another way or experiment with the constraints on another project, being careful to back up your original project.

let me know what happens, and when i get some time i will do the same.

regards

david
