Deborah has attended:
Project Introduction course

Alert; delay

How do you create a graphical alert if a task is delayed post a Must Start Date

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: Alert; delay

Hi Deborah

Thanks for your question. When you set your constraint you can also add a deadline to a task. Double click on your task and go to the advanced tab. From the deadline dropdown box choose a date. This will set an arrow indicator in your plan on the date you selected. If the task is then delayed so that it finishes later that the deadline you chose Project will put an alert in the Indicators column. You could set your deadlines early enough so that they act as an early warning that your dates are slipping and preventative action is needed.

Hope this is helpful. Do let us know if you have any further questions.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Ms project tip:

Autofit column width – Project (all versions)

a. Highlight the column or columns you wish to alter the width of.
b. Double click the dividing line between the columns. This dividing line is the break between the columns on the column headers (grey buttons showing the column letter at the top of each column). When you hover your mouse over one of these dividing lines the point will change and show an arrow pulling a line in two directions. When you have this mouse pointer you should double click to get Project to automatically set the column width to fit the contents of the column (autofit)
