Linking cells to word documents

I am using a large excel database and linking individual cells to a word documents. I would like to add in rows to the excel database without changing the location of the links in the word documents. Is there a way to do this?

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: Linking cells to word documents

Hi Rachel

Do you want to add in rows at the end of the document, or in the middle?

Richard

In the middle, if possible.

RE: Linking cells to word documents

Hi Rachel,

If you insert an entire row, then the rows will move downwards. This will change the location of the links, but they will be the same reletive to the cells that were to the left and right of them orginally.

You could insert a cell, but then you must specify where you want the adjacent cells to be moved. Left or Down. That will allow you to insert a value and not change the links that appear next to it.

I am not entirely sure if that answers your question. Please let me know.

Thanks

Richard

Excel tip:

Creating a range of monthly payments as text

You could use a formula to create a range of payment ie. payment amount for x% to y% rate with fixed terms and principle.

The text that would be "between Xamount and Yamount".

Here is how to do it.

1 Use the PMT function to get your monthly payments figure or whatever frequency of payments that you choose he start range.

See PMT under Excel Help

2. Nest these in the ROUND function to round decimals see ROUND under Excel Help

3. Concatenate this using "&" and concatenate " to " and concatenate "Between ".

4. Concatenate the above to PMT function for the end range

ie.

="Between "&ROUND((PMT1),decimal places)&" and "&ROUND((PMT2),decimal places)
