Layout tables vs css

It depends on your circumstances.

Tables are easier to set up because most people are familiar with how tables work (eg. Microsoft Word etc.) But if you can learn how to set up the page using CSS (div/layers) you are allowing yourself much more control of your page in the future. This is due to the nature of how CSS works. One global change in your CSS and your entire site can change in a second. It's a very powerful way to control your layout.

Using CSS also allows you to separate your content from your layout. Also you are not limited by rows and columns.

Also, people are using the internet on more and more mediums now. Phones, TVs, game consoles, PDAs etc. With CSS design, you can simply add another style sheet to inform their devices how your web pages appear... all without changing the code in your pages.

You probably learnt a bit about CSS (layers) layout on your Dreamweaver Intermediate course. For further information, I'd recommend searching google for 'css layout', of which the current top result is promising: http://www.glish.com/css/

It can take a while to master CSS layout, but you'll be glad you did.
