Rachel has attended:
Excel Introduction course

Filling or copy down

Why do the triangles that appeared in the top left hand corner of the trainer's screen, not appear in mine when I copied down using an absolute formula?

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: Filling or copy down

Hi Rachel

Thank you for your question.

The triangles you are referring to come up when Excel thinks there may possibly be an error in a formula - the same as spellcheck in Word will underline any words it thinks are spelt incorrectly.

If the triangles don't show on your screen, it may be because the setting to display them has been turned off on your computer. Check Tools - Options - Error Checking to see which settings are currently ticked.

I hope this helps to explain the discrepancy between your screen and the trainer's.

Amanda

Excel tip:

Using Excel's MODE function

Use Excel's MODE function to display the most common value present in a particular range of cells.

The Mode function looks like this:

=MODE(cell range)

As an example, if 35 is the most commonly recurring number in a particular cell range, then the function will display 35.
