Project 2003 Question

Is there any way to delete an item once it has been indented?

it seems alittle strange that once you have indented a task you cant undo it

RE: Project 2003 Question

Hi Lee

Yes the indenting of items can take a little while to get used to. The principle is that if you indent a task then the row above it becomes a summary (by default it goes bold and its duration is now that of the tasks indented below it)

To stop a task being a summary task you need to outdent the tasks below it. Once a summary task has nothing indented below it then it returns to being a regular task.

To outdent a task simply right click on the task and from the menu that appears choose outdent.

One other point to bear in mind is that if you delete a summary task Project will warn you that it will also remove any of the tasks indented below it.

Hope this helps - let us know if you need further information or if you have other questions.

Kind regards,

Andrew

Ms project tip:

Autofit column width – Project (all versions)

a. Highlight the column or columns you wish to alter the width of.
b. Double click the dividing line between the columns. This dividing line is the break between the columns on the column headers (grey buttons showing the column letter at the top of each column). When you hover your mouse over one of these dividing lines the point will change and show an arrow pulling a line in two directions. When you have this mouse pointer you should double click to get Project to automatically set the column width to fit the contents of the column (autofit)
