I there an easy way to find errors in formulas between different excel workbooks?

RE: tracking formula errors

There is a built-in error checking system in excel.

Right click on the toolbars, and select FORMULA AUDITING.

Thuis toolbar will give you the tools to trace which cells are involved in the formula.

I suggest looking in the help section of Excel to familiarise yourself with the many aspects of formula checking. Type in "formula error" in the help search, and this will give you a good overview.

Tracking Formula Errors - Formula Auditing Toolbar

The quickest way to trace errors in Excel is by using the Trace Error button on the Formula Auditing toolbar. To do this:

Open the Formula Auditing toolbar

Click the Trace Error button (This is the yellow shape with an exclamation mark on it)

The error traces all the cells in the formula

A dotted line joins the formula cell to an small worksheet symbol indicating cell(s) on the other workbook/worksheet used in the formula.

Double Click the black dot that joins the dotted line to the worksheet symbol.

A Go To dialog box appears.

Click the required cell address

Click OK

NB The destination workbook needs to also be open for this to work

Excel tip:

Adding cells, Rows & columns

place your cursor on a cell, row number or column letter and use CTRL + SHIFT + + or CTRL + + depending on which + you prefer to use.
