RE: Dreamweaver panels

Amechi,

Versions MX and above allow you to dock your panels. But you can also have them 'floating' on top of your document.

A handy shortcut key I always use is F4, which quickly toggles panels on or off.

To turn panels on or off, use the 'Window' menu in Dreamweaver.

Main panels are:

Insert Panel
This is where you add images, roll over buttons, flash movies, layers and many more "objects".

Properties Inspector (usually at the bottom).
This is the Panel where you are going to format things (e.g., text, tables etc.) Like the name suggests, it adjusts the properties of what you include in your web pages.

Site Panel
A place to organise all your local and/or remote files. You can also open documents from here, so you don't have to go to File -> Open each time, or go to My Computer to find your files. The Site Panel can also be used to upload your files to your remote server.

Regards, Rich

Dreamweaver tip:

JumpMenu in new window

When inserting a jumpmenu to a page, the only option available for 'open in' is usually 'main window'. There would be other options available if the page was a frameset.

To change the jumpmenu to open in a new window, change the target parameter of the selectbox in your code to 'window.open()'.

eg.
<select name="menu1" onChange="MM_jumpMenu('window.open()',this,0)">
