Very frustrating cannot see colour/graphs/shapes/lines when work

Please can you help as I am seriously stumped by this, whenever I work on a presentation (whether opening an exisiting one or new) I cannot see any colour/shapes/arrows/lines on the actual slide I work on (bizzarley I can see gridlines when I switch this on and a little of the footer), this is the case when I go to print preview as well. The only time I can see the slide in its entirety is when I go to slide show and on the left hand side of the screen where you get mini snapshots of the slides.

I have checked the background settings, gone to master slide (can't see any colour etc there either), and wierdly my colleagues who all have laptops have no problems at all (I have opened every single presentation on my system!), I have windows xp office 2003, and this started to occur approx 5 months ago on and off and now is permanently there, deeply frustrating as I cannot complete presentations apart from text!

I would be massively grateful if you can help me resolve this one (have used the 'help' function on MS hundreds of times but no joy)
Thank you in advance!

RE: Very frustrating cannot see colour/graphs/shapes/lines when

Hi Fohzia. This sounds like a machine-specific problem rather than a software problem. However, in Powerpoint there is the ability to hide the background graphics of a presentation. If you go Format - Background and click the "Omit background graphics from master" this will hide any graphics on the master. This doesn't explain why you're having problems with other presentations, however, which makes me think that your laptop might be having problems rendering full scale graphics themselves and might need more RAM. Thirdly, try reinstalling Microsoft Office from scratch to return the software to it's factory settings. Any options causing graphics not to appear should then be overwritten.

RE: Very frustrating cannot see colour/graphs/shapes/lines when

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for your reply, I will try and reinstall MS office as funily enough I had a similar idea to do the same but used the repair and recover option rather than reinsatlling from scratch, this did help temporarily but on my next log in (the next day) it was the same as before.

Anyway will def be reinstalling it and fingers crossed that should do the trick

Thank you for your time
kind regards
Fohzia
