Debbie has attended:
Powerpoint Intermediate Advanced course

Emailing powerpoint files

How do I save a powerpoint document so that the end user cannot change it, before I email it to them? is this possible or can they alter once they have saved it on their computer?

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: emailing powerpoint files

Hi Debbie. There are a couple of ways to do this. The first is to force the user to open only a Read Only version of the PPT file by setting a password to modify in Tools - Options - Security. Certainly from 2002 onwards this is a robust way of protecting the material and won't allow users to modify the material even when they save a new version of their own (earlier versions don't have this protection facility). However, emailing a PDF version of the presentation is also one way of protecting content.

Hope this helps

Anthony

RE: emailing powerpoint files

Hi Debbie,

I'd agree with Anthony in using the Tools -> Options -> Security tab feature of Powerpoint.

To convert a document to PDF, there are many software tools out there, apart from Adobe Acrobat. Personally I use http://www.pdf995.com which allows you to 'print to file', and the file is a PDF file.

Hope this helps.

Regards, Rich
