Janet has attended:
Project Intermediate course

Multiple Calendars

What is the best way to set calendars on a construction project where you have resources working in 2 x 12 hour shifts

For upcoming training course dates see: Pricing & availability

RE: Multiple Calendars

Hi Janet. This depends on the level of micro-management you want to achieve. It sounds like the shifts will cover a 24hr peiod, so set the base calender to this when setting up the plan in MS Project. Then you have two choices. Then create two bespoke calenders covering the 2 different 12 hour shifts and either apply them to each individual member of the shift or create two resource Groups and apply the calenders to them. The former allows micromanagement down to the individual level, whereas the latter permits management down to the wider shift level.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Ms project tip:

MS Project 2010 Scroll to Task

Ever feel lost on a large project file? In Gantt view, Task ribbon, Editing, click on the Scroll to Task tool to centre the task bar on your screen.

Shortcut Ctrl+Shift+F5

Same as Go to Selected Task in MS Project 2003.
