RE: Importing files

Hi Sunny

There are two ways of approaching this. In both cases you need to have your data in Word stored in a table.

Firstly you can copy the table from Word and paste it directly into your Excel sheet.

Alternatively you will need to make sure your Word document contains only the table of data then save the document into a format that Excel can work with such as text file (.txt) or comma separated values (.csv). Saving your information in these formats allows Excel to keep track of the structure of your data when you carry out the import. Once your file is saved go back to Excel and from the Data menu choose import external data and change the Files of Type drop down box to list Text files. You should then be able to browse to your word file and select it. After you click on OK Excel will ask for any information it needs to understand your data then import it into your current sheet.

With your data imported you can call up the data form by clicking in your data then from the Data menu choosing Form.

I hope this helps Sunny. Do let us know if you have any other questions about this topic or Excel in general.

Kind regards,

Andrew
