RE: syntax

Hi Katie

What syntax list are you looking for? Functions, VBA code, Macros?

I will take a guess and say that it is the functions like in Excel. Access keeps them in a place called the EXPRESSION BUILDER. It is not as user friendly as Excel's.

To access it:

Go to a query field and right click
Select build
Then the expresssion builder will show.
Open the FUNCTIONS section and then Built-in Functions.
You will see the middle column populate with the function categories and the right column with the functions.

It will only show the syntax, with no explaination. Either look in HELP or Google for an explaination of how each one works.
Or ask me, and I might be able to assist.

Regards

Richard

Access tip:

Dsum

You can create percentage values based on individual products / items by using a Dsum function (used with a grouped query)

[Each value column] / Dsum[field:total for the column needed to be calculated],[tablename]
