Making pages compatible with all browsers

by - Alex [guest] (2006 Nov 14 Tue, 20:27) replyReply

What's the best way to ensure my dreamweaver pages will display correctly in all browser? I can get something looking perfect in IE and then I'll look in Firefox and the formatting with have altered. I know Dreamweaver has a browser check function but I'm not sure of the best way to use this?

Thanks

You can define up to 20 browsers for previewing. It’s a good idea to preview in the following browsers: Internet Explorer 6.0, and Netscape Navigator 7.0 browser.

To set or change preferences for your primary and secondary browsers:

Open the Preview in Browser options:

Select Edit > Preferences, and then select Preview in Browser from the category list on the left.
Select File > Preview in Browser > Edit Browser List.
The Preferences dialog box appears with the Preview in Browser options.

To set preferences for browser preview:
To add a browser to the list, click the Plus (+) button, complete the Add Browser dialog box, and then click OK.
The new browser name appears in the list.

To delete a browser from the list, select the browser, and then click the Minus (-) button.
The browser name disappears from the list.

To change settings for a selected browser, click the Edit button, make changes in the Edit Browser dialog box, and then click OK.
Select the Primary Browser or the Secondary Browser option to specify whether the selected browser is the primary or secondary browser.
F12 (Windows)) opens the primary browser; Control+F12 (Windows) opens the secondary browser.

Select the Preview Using Temporary File option to create a temporary copy for previewing and server debugging.
Deselect this option if you want to update the document directly.
