Financial Models

I have been sent a fairly large financial model that Im supposed to be familiarising myself with. Im trying to do some sensitivity analysis but changing key inputs to see what effect that has on the IRRs etc. Whilst the formulae are in placing linking all the different cells, teh linked cells are not automatically changing to reflect the new number in the input cell.

What do I need to do to ensure the model responds to new changes of value in the input cells??

Many Thanks,

Tim

RE: financial Models

Tim,

It sounds like Excel is not calculating the fomulae automatically.

To check that that this option is enabled, Click TOOLS > OPTIONS > CALCULATION

Make sure that the first button is selected (automatic calculation).

Let me know if this sorts the problem out.

Regards

Richard

Excel tip:

Sorting List Subtotals

If you find that you would prefer to show the items in a subtotalled list in a different order, eg ascending rather than descending, you can sort your list. To sort a subtotalled list, hide the detail rows and then sort the subtotal rows. When you sort a subtotalled list, the hidden detail rows are automatically moved with the subtotal rows.
IMPORTANT: If you do not hide the details rows before sorting a subtotalled list, your subtotals will be removed and all of the rows in your list will be reordered.
