Is there a tool that will allow you to compare 2 financial models to check what the differences are between them and what changes have been made?

Hi Tim. There doesn't seem to be a straight worksheet comparison tool in Excel, so I'm thinking there must be a downloadable add-in out there to perform this function. Secondly, you could feasibly copy and paste the cell values into Word as a table and then use its Compare function to highlight alterations between versions. Thirdly, there's a package called Deltaview which is used by law firms to compare Word documents, which might be able to generate Excel comparisons.

Finally, you could use worksheet formulas to compare cells and then change cell formatting if a difference is found, but that would add in a whole extra laying of formulae ontop of the model, so I wouldn't advise it.

Hope this helps,

Anthony

Excel tip:

Pivot table grouping

If you want to group items in a pivot table together, simply highlight the labels for the fields either with the shift key (if adjacent)or with the contral key if they are not next to each other.
Right click and choose group. Give the cell a name.

When you double click on this cell it will either expamd or collapse your grouped area
